Buick Streamliner - 1948

This classic Buick Streamliner is in pristine condition, restored by Dave Crouse for the 2010 Concours d'Elegance.

Its original construction took over two years, built with an aluminium body around a steel chassis. Not only is it unlikely you'll ever see this beauty on the road, it's likely that you will never see it on the auction block.

A car like this is too rare, too beautiful for any owner to pass it up - no matter what the price.

Looking at this car we can only lament the direction car design and body aesthetics has gone.

Single Seater Aero Car

This is Volkswagen's new car - a single seat aero design soon to be released in China for only 4000 yuan, that's around $600 and it will get 258 miles per gallon.

The original objective of the prototype was to seat one person and to prove that 1 litre of fuel would deliver 100 kilometres of travel. It is made completely of carbon fibre and is unpainted to save weight.

The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result. The body is 3.47 m. long, 1.25 m. wide and a little over a metre high. Safety was not compromised as the impact and roll over protection is comparable to racing cars.

Power plant is a one cylinder diesel motor positioned ahead of the rear axle with an automatic transmission. Fuel tank capacity is 1.7 gallons (about 7.7 litres) with a speed of about 74.6 mph (about 119 kmh). Travel distance with a full tank of fuel is 404 miles (646 k).

(now we just need to make it look SEXY and sound like a V8 and the whole world will buy one)!

Stainless Steel 1936 Ford

This is the 1936 Ford Tudor Sedan built for and owned by Allegheny Ludlum Steel.

This is 1 of only 4 in existence and is the only one currently running and in roadworthy condition. The frame of the car and it's interior is in exceptional condition. All 4 cars each had traveled over 200,000 miles before they were removed from service.

The cars were built for Alleghany as promotional and marketing projects. The top salesmen each year were given the honour of being able to drive them for one year.

The V-8 engine (max. 85hp) ran like a sewing machine and was surprisingly smooth and quite.

Apparently, the dies were ruined by stamping the stainless car making this the last of these cars ever produced.
