<br />
This does not look odd, it's actually unusual not ugly.<br />
<br />
Most
modern car designs are ugly because the intelligent and artistic
input is castrated by corporate limitations of human fatigue,
occupational turnover and financial constraints,.<br />
<br />
RR may be
the only credible car company remaining that can foresee customer
demand for a truly individual and creative motor vehicle.<br />
<br />
It
seems to be a company not concerned with profit margins, sales or
publicity - it is elite and innovative.<br />
<br />
True car enthusiasts
can not abide with the corporate, multi-platform, contrived
obsolescent , ugly, impractical art involved in the creation of
beautiful motor vehicles.<br />
<br />
This car brings forth our desire and
adoration for beautiful body design that meets practical human
needs.<br />

obsolete - Rolls Royce may signify the industry's crowning glory.

I would like to comment on the discussion of a Teflon wax. First of all
teflon(PTFE) is a powder that is added to a mixture to enable easier
clean-up and create a non stick surface.
<br />
This mixture is then heated to around 365 degrees. Imagine trying to
heat a wax to that temperature. No more then 5% of the teflon powder can
be added to a mixture and not go through the heating process. In fact
unless you pay royalties to 3M corp you are not allowed to use the name
Teflon describing your product.
<br />
On the other hand a good Acrylic Polymer sealant will provide a years worth of protection from oxidation, acid rain ect.</span></div>

I have had many clients and show cars comment on just this. If they read
the fine print, you have to reapply each year or renew the coverage for
the next year to keep it under warranty. However this type of
protection does not take away the fact that adding a high quaility of
wax will add to its shine and protection. But I have yet to find a
sealant that will protect for a full year. Can you let me know where I
can get one. Please don't take that as a poke at you, but I am really
curious</span></div>

Richard your comments about Teflon are correct, except that is only one
type of Teflon. DuPont does, in fact, produce a Teflon that in other
ways than bonded to frying pans. Suggest that anyone interested in
knowing about Teflon Google "Teflon" and Wikipedia has a great
explanation.
<br />
<br />
Teflon, or not, paint sealants are paint sealants. Some have more shine
than others, some have more durablity than others, more or less. They
are not wonder products and they do not last forever nor for a year.
Under the best driving conditions a paint sealant, any paint sealant,
will not last more than 6 months without a re-application.
<br />
<br />
Are paint sealants, with or without Teflon, worth it? That is really
not up to detailers to answer, in my opinion. It is up to the motorist.
They are the ones who pay the dealership the money. What they are
really buying is nothing more than "insurance."
<br />
<br />
It is a great marketing/sales opportunity for the dealership. When they
have sold the customer a new car the mentality of the customer is that
they want to "take care of the new vehicle." So the dealer sells the
protection package when concluding the sale with the Finance &
Insurance guy. The cost over the course of a 48 or 60 month contract is
minimal. In some cases they discount the price of the protection
package off the cost of the vehicle.
<br />
<br />
Instead of criticizing dealers for being smart business people detailers ought to learn from the dealer.
<br />
<br />
When I operated our DETAIL PLUS Centres in Portland, and what I advise
our customers to do is put up a professional sign in the waiting room of
their shop that states something like this:
<br />
<br />
"ASK ABOUT OUR NEW CAR PROTECTION PACKAGE"
<br />
<br />
Only $199.95
<br />
<br />
"One Year Guarantee"
<br />
<br />
What is included in the package is a paint sealant application and a fabric protectant on the carpets and fabric seats.
<br />
<br />
The guarantee is simple: the paint will shine and be protected (beading
water) for one year if the customer returns in 6 months for
re-application. If the customer complains about shine or protection the
sealant is re-applied at no charge, a 15 to 30 minute job.
<br />
<br />
The carpets & seats are guaranteed not stain. Again a re-application in 6 months. If they do we clean them and re-apply.
<br />
<br />
At $200 upfront that is a great deal for the detailer and for the customer.
<br />
<br />
Remember you are not selling paint sealants and fabric protectant to the
customer you are selling insurance and that is what they are willing
to pay for.
<br />
<br />
Try our DIAMOND Shine PLUS, one of the best sealants on the market.
FABRIC PROTECTANT also one of the best anti-stain treatments available.
Both at very competitive prices.

A very good read, thanks Joseph. I tell my customers to carefully
consider the cost of protective coatings offered by dealerships when
buying their new car. The benefits of regular paint detailing and

Many people have envisioned an alternative to the traditional car and motorcycle, maybe either or both of these concepts will offer motorists an escape from the often mundane car or the danger of a motorbike. By combining all the positive attributes of both these vehicles they may also ease traffic congestion and conserve natural resources and give drivers a new travelling experience.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7797793203448867434.post-78403233009274036742012-02-09T22:33:00.001+11:002013-05-02T17:02:56.275+10:00Marketing Discussion - LinkedinI have been following and contributing to a discussion on 'Linkedin' regarding - "Sure could use some advice". Don't..............If you are a true artist, your
work will promote itself ! If you need to push it - You are a fake.
There was an artist who cut off his ear (that is what he is remembered

ceiling (that is what he is remembered for). How many body parts are you
willing to give up, to become a celebrity ? The last thing you will

<span class="comment-body" data-li-comment-text="">
I'm sorry, but Mark Kaye Kaukas, I can't agree
with your advice to Rita, especially in a time when there is so much out
there screaming for our attention. As an artist, I have seen so many
talented people in all genres in creative fields _not_ get noticed. Just
because someone is talented, does not mean that their work will be seen
or heard. Have you ever heard a talented musician who never makes it
big? How about a musician that is not all that talented, but does make
it big? What's the difference? Promotion.
<br />
<br />
Art for art's sake is great and pure, but if one wants to make a living
through art, they need to promote their work. To do so, they do not have
to cut off their ear or lay on their back for 30 years (Is that really
all you think about when you think of these artists?).
<br />
<br />
The real trouble artists have and have had through the ages is now to be
a successful business person as well as a successful creative person.
Those two traits rarely go hand in hard easily together. If you know
anything about how the brain works, that is easy to understand. That is
often why artists (as well as other talented people, think athletes)
hire agents or agencies to, like Jim Palam's, to help promote and mange
their business side of things so they can concentrate on doing what they
do best -- create.
<br />
<br />
Marketing one's work does not mean they have to sell their soul,
although there are many that do. We all know plenty of examples of that.
There is a delicate balance that can be made in which the artist is
successful in their craft and is able to monetize their work and be
successful as a business as well.
<br />
<br />
Lastly, Mark Kaye Kaukas, let me ask you a question, where would your business be if you didn't promote it? </span></div>

I have seen cars painted by hand with a paint brush (and then properly sanded and polished) that present better than a 20,000 dollar paint job. I have also enjoyed the enthusiasm of those who knew sweet-bugger-all about mechanics or bodywork but taught themselves out of pure necessity and lack of money, but they had a vision and a bucket load of ideas. And eventually they created a true masterpiece of motoring !">"Here

The British car is powered by a 51 horsepower inline 3 cylinder engine mounted in the rear. The driver is front and center, 2 passengers sit behind. The front section tilts forward for access.<br /><br />The diminutive size allows backing in to the curb, parking 3 cars in one parallel parking space, a U-turn is under 20 feet. It weighs 1212 pounds and gets 61.9 miles per gallon. This is definitely something that could scoot around in a city with ease and carry more people in less space on the road, easing congestion.<br /><br />(taken from: 'The Kneeslider-Motorcycle News for Positive People'. 6/29/10)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7797793203448867434.post-76249886457553635212010-07-08T11:47:00.006+10:002010-07-10T14:51:33.141+10:00The Falcon Kestrel<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDf7iJu8ZEI/AAAAAAAAAKc/OOg3eTgs0JA/s1600/falcon-motorcycles.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 239px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDf7iJu8ZEI/AAAAAAAAAKc/OOg3eTgs0JA/s400/falcon-motorcycles.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492134834748548162" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDf7Y4tMW5I/AAAAAAAAAKU/iWqXFFm56J4/s1600/falcon-motorcycles-5.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDf7Y4tMW5I/AAAAAAAAAKU/iWqXFFm56J4/s400/falcon-motorcycles-5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492134675558980498" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDUv0bwlfUI/AAAAAAAAAJE/7bnNS08nv4w/s1600/falcon-motorcycles-5.jpg"><br /></a>This motorcycle won the best Custom at the "Quail Gathering" in May 2010 at Carmel in California.<br /><br />The Falcon Kestrel is pictured in racing trim - with no head light, tail light or license plate. The frame of the car and it's interior is in exceptional condition. All 4 cars each had traveled over 200,000 miles before they were removed from service.<br /><br />The cars were built for Alleghany as promotional and marketing projects. The top salesmen each year were given the honour of being able to drive them for one year.<br /><br />The V-8 engine (max. 85hp) ran like a sewing machine and was surprisingly smooth and quite.<br /><br />Apparently, the dies were ruined by stamping the stainless car making this the last of these cars ever produced.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7797793203448867434.post-34378288029090367402009-09-30T22:19:00.004+10:002010-07-10T15:58:26.029+10:00Colour Co-ordination<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDgLr7F-6VI/AAAAAAAAALc/Rb31qLK8qrc/s1600/1957-1959-BMW-600-Green-1280x960.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/TDgLr7F-6VI/AAAAAAAAALc/Rb31qLK8qrc/s400/1957-1959-BMW-600-Green-1280x960.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492152594803386706" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KwPtnlxz39M/SsNSHJMVKJI/AAAAAAAAAEc/eoIHN8rJMQk/s1600-h/1957-1959-BMW-600-Green-1280x960.jpg"><br /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">BMW 600</span> (1957 - 1959)<br /><br />A very fashionable female is presenting the new BMW Bubble Car.<br /><br />This is a larger model of an earlier version, the Isetta from 1954.<br /><br />It was a larger body to contain 4 seats, was powered by a massive 0.6 litre flat 2 cylinder engine.<br /><br />Maximum power output was 19.5 horsepower - awesome !<br /><br />A blistering top speed of 64 mph ( that's about 102 kmh ) !<br /><br />The main feature of this car was that you could probably buy it in any colour to match your existing wardrobe, as the model so elegantly demonstrates. It is actually a two stage operation, and may be more, if you want a truly excellent finish to your car's duco. Because modern paintwork is much softer, I prefer to call the process, Buffing and Polishing.<br /><br />Paint technology has changed a great deal recently; some cars are now sprayed with water based paint and many colours are enhanced by spraying a clear coat over a base coat. On many newer cars you can actually see the true colour, before the clear has been applied, in the engine bay and inside the boot or fuel door.<br /><br />Other cars, depending on the brand, age or country of origin may be painted with acrylic or enamel, with or without a clear coat, or even finished in metallic or pearl. There can also be vast differences in quality between different makes, country of origin, intended country of sale and factory or custom paintwork.<br /><br />Be careful when buying any products labeled "Cut & Polish", it is normally a very abrasive compound and can quickly damage the paint if not used properly. Remember, it should be a two stage process and should therefore be two seperate products.<br /><br />The key to successful polishing is patience, persistence and a gentle touch; not quick agression and abrasion. Most of the scratching on newer cars is in the clear coating which can be very soft. That is why your car loses its brightness after repeated washings - the clear coat is being rubbed and damaged.<br /><br />Some cars show signs of Buff marks and Swirls, this is evidence of poorly executed cut, buff and polish work. Please be aware that there are some very clever products that claim to remove these - they are mostly just very fine filling polishes that offer a temporary fix and are only disguising a poor job. There should never be any of these patterns or blemishes in the first place!<br /><br />There are also some very, very expensive polishes and paint protection products available. However, I fail to see the benefit of these because they are only truly effective if the paintwork has been properly prepared with specialist cutting or buffing work.<br /><br />Be wary, also, of paint protection services and products offered to you when buying a new vehicle. They are a clever way of asking, "do you want fries with that" - that is, upselling, whereby increasing the car dealers profit margin. Any repair work, or colour matching or even buffing and polishing will often void your warranty for the product and I very much doubt the validity of, for example, a five year warranty. I would suggest you consider yearly attention by a professional such as <span style="font-style: italic;">Excell Buff</span> to maintain a superior finish on your vehicle at a total lesser cost.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7797793203448867434.post-8733747851829804952009-07-22T16:58:00.057+10:002014-02-15T14:16:18.492+11:00Car Show Event Calendar 2014<b>ExcellBuff recommends these events as places of interest to visit if you are interested in Hot Rods, Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Motorbikes or Swap Meets.</b><br />

Pink - <span style="font-weight: bold;">"Stupid Girls"</span> - video (2.39 minutes in).<br /><br />Maybe I should say, "Ways to <span style="font-style: italic;">watch</span> having your car washed" - I certainly do not not suggest these methods are beneficial to your paintwork!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7797793203448867434.post-22883217116917918542009-07-19T18:55:00.007+10:002009-07-19T22:57:34.106+10:00How Not to wash your Car !"Save money and give your car a professional car wash at home using a hose and two simple products."<br /><br />This is the introduction on a Website titled <span style="font-style: italic;">How to wash a Car, with JJ Burkhart.</span> The address of this site is:<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"> http://video.about.com/housekeeping/car-wash.htm</span> . If you are looking for information on how to wash your, please visit this site. I highly recommend you watch their promotional video; it shows everything you should NOT do when washing your car.<br /><br />I will detail the misinformation from this alleged "Trusted information source" in order of its presentation:<br /><br />1. Do<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> place equipment and materials on the duco. This only increases the risk of scratching, denting, or transferring contaminants. (where had that bucket been sitting?).<br /><br />2. The car is <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span> parked in the shade. It is a prestige car, a Cadillac, and is also black( a most difficult colour to maintain).<br /><br />3. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Too </span>much detergent is used. This will streak or bleach the duco, especially in the sun!<br /><br />4. Do<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> rub so hard with the wash mitt. This is only scratching the duco and taking off any wax that was previously on the surface.<br /><br />5. Do <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span> start from the top and soak the car with so much soap. The sun is baking those wonderful cleaning chemicals onto the duco.<br /><br />6. Do<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> use the mesh side of the mitt to scrub headlight lenses and external mirrors. They are no longer made from scratch resistant glass, but normally, a plastic/perspex compound.<br /><br />7. Do <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span> dry with a cotton towel. Every rub or wipe is leaving scuffs or scratches. Loop pile cotton is notorious for absorbing contaminants. It is also rarely 100% pure cotton and usually is partly composed of nylon - even worse for causing scratches.<br /><br />8. Do<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> use a second dry towel to rub a dry surface, it is just producing more blemishes.<br /><br />9. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Too</span> much wax is applied and over<span style="font-weight: bold;"> too</span> much area at once. A paste wax like that should be smeared on lightly and evenly. "Wax on, wax off" is a reference from the film <span style="font-style: italic;">The Karate Kid</span>, it realates to the motion of the the arms and refers to the immediate removal of the wax. Leave it on for too long and the paste sticks to the duco like glue ( especially if the surface is not perfectly smooth).<br /><br />10. Do <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span> apply wax with a sponge applicator unless you are prepared to spend much time removing all the excess wax from under trims, badges, window seals and edges. (Have a close look at your car a few hours later and you will notice all the hard dried wax you missed removing).<br /><br />11. Glass cleaner applied so liberally is<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> necessary. The car has already been washed, the glass should be fairly clean. (Try using a damp chamois and a flannelette cloth).<br /><br />Finally - If you really want to know how to wash your car correctly please send an Email to Mark at <span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">masterdetailer@excellbuff.com.au</span> or visit my web site <span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">www.excellbuff.com.au</span> to find my cell phone number, and call me personally.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
